Kerala: an Indian tale

Kerala is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Asia and is rapidly gaining popularity. Enchanted country in southern India, it is called the land of the gods and the Indian Venice.
Why Venice? 44 rivers with a total length of 1900 km wash its lands. Known as “Kerala’s backwaters”, these rivers have long been used as a trade route – coconuts, rice and spices were transported through them.

Today, these waterways connect distant villages and islands with key coastal centers. The most interesting region in Zavodychi is Kuttanad district, called the “rice bowl” of Kerala.

This is the only place on Earth where they are engaged in agriculture below sea level – thanks to a complex system of embankments and dams.

Beaches: 600 km sandy beach, coconut trees, natural harbors, hidden from the eyes of the cove, lagoons – and the golden sun rays. What else does a tourist need from the sea coast?

Western Ghats fascinate with the aroma of tea and coffee plantations. And the majestic waterfalls and pull to explore the neighborhood.

More than 150,000 tourists visit the reserve in Periyar each year, the most popular in South India (founded in 1934). This is one of the 16 reserves in India, engaged in the protection of tigers (since 1973). It is located on the picturesque slopes of the Western Ghats on the lake and occupies an area of 775 sq. Km.

It is also the best preserve of Asia in all that relates to observing the life of elephants in natural conditions. In addition to elephants, the fauna of Periyar Reserve includes tigers, panthers, leopards, Indian bison, sambar, spotted deer, sloths, wild dogs, civet, as well as a huge number of very different birds. Often you can see pythons and cobras, sometimes a flying lizard comes across.

In addition to wildlife, visit the temples of Kerala. Fort Bekal is the largest and best preserved Kerala fort. One of the most popular places of pilgrimage is the city of Guruvayur, where the sacred Temple of Krishna is located. In the altar of the temple there is a very ancient sculptural image of a deity with four hands holding a shell, a disk, a club and a lotus. It is believed that those who have performed the marriage ceremony in this temple receive an eternal blessing, therefore many marriages are concluded here.

Kerala is the only place in India that practices pure Ayurveda. Her magic touch will heal the spirit, mind and body – do not miss this opportunity.

And of course, appreciate the kerala cuisine – there are both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, including fish delicacies.

Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Kerala – an Indian fairy tale awaits you!
